Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of the website. Viewing content or submitting a search means that you accept them. If you disagree with any condition, discontinue use of the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no government affiliation. It and its advertising partners do not offer a service for credit, employment, insurance, housing, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Wood County Criminal History is a public-record reference, not a private-investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site that operates independently of all government bodies. It neither stores official criminal files nor retrieves records, conducts official checks, or submits legal documents for a visitor.

Its content identifies Wood County custodians, including the sheriff and court clerks, as well as Texas DPS and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect to separately operated search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Violate a local, Texas, or federal law
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass another person with information found here
  • Use site content for a credit, employment, housing, or insurance decision
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the pages
  • Disrupt performance or interfere with another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from these pages or a linked tool must not be used to intimidate, threaten, stalk, harass, or unlawfully discriminate. Texas Public Sex Offender Registry data is provided for public notification under Chapter 62, not vigilantism. Misuse against a registrant may bring criminal or civil consequences.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Wood County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create consumer reports, credit files, or official background checks. Its content and linked tools may not be used to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
  • Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A legally compliant report for a regulated purpose must come from Texas DPS or an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

The material is general information, not legal advice about a Wood County charge, conviction, warrant, expunction, or nondisclosure. A licensed Texas attorney can assess an individual situation.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are provided "as is." No warranty is made that:

  • Information will always be accurate, complete, or current
  • Access will remain uninterrupted
  • The pages will contain no errors, bugs, or security flaws
  • A partner's search result will be complete or correctly matched

Charges, case outcomes, restrictions, and expunction orders can change the public record. Gaps or delays may occur, and nothing here is an official statement from a clerk, sheriff, court, or state agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

An external link may open a government office, court portal, legal resource, state agency, or commercial search service that this site does not control. The destination is responsible for its content, availability, prices, privacy practices, and terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Wood County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required before copying, modifying, distributing, or creating derivative works.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the site is not liable for harm arising from its use, including reliance on content or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the site harmless from claims or demands caused by your use or violation of these terms, including related legal expenses.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in Texas.

12. Changes to These Terms

The terms may be revised. A revision takes effect when the new text is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time and without prior notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue, and the affected text is adjusted only as needed.
